One more win for the little guys

I went to a movie tonight with my boyfriend playing at Empire Theatres to see the new X-Files movie which, in our opinions, was just fair at best. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone by giving any of the surprises away. Read more »

Students surf their way to success

I found this on the Google blog today and think it’s great and worth sharing.

7/16/2008 12:02:00 AM

Early on in my career at Google I was approached by a former professor of mine, Jamie Murphy, who was eager to give his students hands-on exposure to online marketing. Apart from delivering a great learning experience, Jamie wanted to make sure that his students would leave university with skills they could take directly into the workforce. Read more »

I was hired by a publishing company on PEI a few months ago to help launch a new website that theyPEICanada.com developed called www.PEICanada.com. It did launch successfully and although it will always be worked upon, improved and growing, the fundamental structure of the site is up and going. Read more »

A Day in the Life: Summer Inspiration

I showed my house again today to a young couple who said they’d take it and would phone me in two hours but they haven’t yet.

My new client came out to Pownal for a meeting and we went over a few things on my site. She said that she spent two hours going through my site and reading my blog and at the end of it she decided that she would hire me without a doubt and immediately to boot. Read more »

Update to Tourism Post

Please visit this post to find a letter from renowned marketer Barry Smith whom Paul MacNeill alluded to in his blog post regarding “What is really wrong with tourism” (on PEI). Great to see these guys speaking out. I can’t say too much today because I had so much fun doing a shoot for Tourism PEI yesterday however… Read more »

A Day in the Life: Summer fun

Thank-you to my friend Dieter who shared this slideshow with me: “What the f**k is social media?” Which is funny because I saw it on Slideshare recently and thought to myself - I wonder if that would fly on PEI? It would sure get some attention.

Secondly - a shout-out to BRUCE who’s girlfriend, Laura, is a superstar at Tourism PEI and is the catalyst for arranging a wonderful afternoon for my boys and I yesterday at a brilliant folk art shop owned by Island artist Kerras Jeffrey. Laura asked if the boys and I would be interested in doing a photo shoot for Tourism PEI and we had the pleasure of working with the talented Mr. John Sylvester Read more »

What’s really wrong with tourism - (on PEI)

What’s really wrong with tourism - (on PEI)

Interesting commentary courtesy of my blogging buddy, Paul MacNeill - pretty dead on in my opinion.

Feel free to share with anyone that you think may be interested.

**An update in July 8th’s Guardian, letter to the editor from Mr. Barry Smith with his closing words:

“Until the people of P.E.I. stand up and say: we want a professional approach to marketing our Island, tax dollars will continue to be wasted on plans/executions that equal nothing.”

Maven update

I haven’t been much of a maven lately. As a matter of fact, I’m afraid I’ve lost a bit of my blogging mojo but with good reason(s). My big brother was visiting from Indonesia and since it was only for a week, we tried to make the most of it and did. We had an awesome time with our kids and families. That seemed to spill over into Canada Day festivities with my boys, a bit of cottage hopping and ended with a bang with fireworks last night at a friend’s cottage in Rosebank, overlooking the Charlottetown harbour.

Not only were my blogging duties neglected, my house is a testament to taking a break from “domestic” duties. Time to mow the lawn again as one example. The fun that I had with friends and family is more than worth it - needless to say. Rejuvenating.

New and old projects have kept me busy as well. A few clients are now in the second phase of their marketing with the mavens which is rewarding. I’ll do an update of all the projects soon.

I will share a very cool, new social music site called Jango (www.jango.com) which allows the user to pull together radio stations with all of their favorite artists VERY easily. I’ve been listening to it non-stop however I’m not an ipod user and don’t have Sirius satellite so perhaps that’s why it is so appealing to me.
