A Day in the Life: Summer Inspiration

I showed my house again today to a young couple who said they’d take it and would phone me in two hours but they haven’t yet.

My new client came out to Pownal for a meeting and we went over a few things on my site. She said that she spent two hours going through my site and reading my blog and at the end of it she decided that she would hire me without a doubt and immediately to boot. Read more »

A Day in the Life: Summer fun

Thank-you to my friend Dieter who shared this slideshow with me: “What the f**k is social media?” Which is funny because I saw it on Slideshare recently and thought to myself - I wonder if that would fly on PEI? It would sure get some attention.

Secondly - a shout-out to BRUCE who’s girlfriend, Laura, is a superstar at Tourism PEI and is the catalyst for arranging a wonderful afternoon for my boys and I yesterday at a brilliant folk art shop owned by Island artist Kerras Jeffrey. Laura asked if the boys and I would be interested in doing a photo shoot for Tourism PEI and we had the pleasure of working with the talented Mr. John Sylvester Read more »

Maven update

I haven’t been much of a maven lately. As a matter of fact, I’m afraid I’ve lost a bit of my blogging mojo but with good reason(s). My big brother was visiting from Indonesia and since it was only for a week, we tried to make the most of it and did. We had an awesome time with our kids and families. That seemed to spill over into Canada Day festivities with my boys, a bit of cottage hopping and ended with a bang with fireworks last night at a friend’s cottage in Rosebank, overlooking the Charlottetown harbour.

Not only were my blogging duties neglected, my house is a testament to taking a break from “domestic” duties. Time to mow the lawn again as one example. The fun that I had with friends and family is more than worth it - needless to say. Rejuvenating.

New and old projects have kept me busy as well. A few clients are now in the second phase of their marketing with the mavens which is rewarding. I’ll do an update of all the projects soon.

I will share a very cool, new social music site called Jango (www.jango.com) which allows the user to pull together radio stations with all of their favorite artists VERY easily. I’ve been listening to it non-stop however I’m not an ipod user and don’t have Sirius satellite so perhaps that’s why it is so appealing to me.

A Day in the Life: Many thanks to the Chamber of Commerce

I went to a seminar yesterday by Gair Maxwell, put on by the Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Property Guys, called the Branded Networker. I thought he displayed a diverse and interesting array of business acumen during his presentation and the satisfaction that he derives from helping businesses with their brands was clear.

A breakthrough moment occurred for me when Gair asked what the word listen really means and put on a recording of The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkle… the answer - SILENT - which is listen spelled in a different way.

He covered everything from basic marketing concepts and classic books such as: Read more »

Doc’s party/Chrissy’s benefit

Certainly the highlight of the evening - from my perspective - was Jake’s painting, Ted the penguin, sellingSold for $250 for $250. It had gotten an early bid of $100 so it started pretty high and I was determined to get it for my sister-in-law who desperately wanted it. It got a bit out of control when Paul MacNeill got carried away and I found myself wondering how I was going to pay for this painting when I recalled to myself that I had surreptitiously made copies at home earlier and so conceded to Paul.
