Is anyone taking vitamin D?

I just looked on the bottle of my multi-vitamin that I take and it read 300 iu of vitamin D. I take it twice a day. I’m dead curious after reading an interesting article in the Globe and Mail (you can read it here) whether vitamin D helps ward off cancer. Read more »

Dogoodery

To qualify: Only one other time have I ever blogged about PerezHilton.com - it’s usually just a mindless escape for me as I do not watch TV but never really saw anything on his blog remarkable enough to want to spread the word about, you know what I’m saying? Read more »

Virgin’s coconut-powered 747 completes first flight

Truly amazing. I read Richard Branson’s autobiography in 5 hours a few months ago and this is partly why this headline caught my eye. Mainly however, because of the magnitude of the headline/statement. Read more »

Contentious and shocking

I was blown away by the article “We had to hide the Knives” in yesterday’s Globe and Mail online. Click to read the article click here.

With a title like that one, I suppose, would suspect a contentious and potentially shocking article. Never did I expect it to be about young children diagnosed with bi-polar, a psychiatric disorder that can be devastating to the afflicted person and their families. Read more »

Great example of Viral Marketing

A series of events led me to make a phone call to Aaron Koleszar today. The operative word being SERIES. Often with marketing it takes 5 or more times for a potential client to hear or see the product or service before they actually buy. Today was a great, personal example of that. Read more »

Remarkable Woman

I met with a woman named Susan MacDonald on Saturday. Susan healed from stage 4 lymphatic cancer and wrote a book about it. She spent the entire time while she was sick, researching and recording the whole process and her medical history which lead to the ultimate shutting down of her body in the form of the diagnosis of terminal cancer. Her book: B.A.L.A.N.C.E. is an amazing wealth of information on how to heal your body naturally. Click here to order from Chapters.ca Read more »

Great PEI Restaurant PR

Apparently I missed this article in the Financial Post section of the National Post from December.

I think Gordon Baily and the gang at Urban Eatery did a remarkable job of turning the food court of the Confederation Mall into one great, big restaurant which sells delicious food.

My 8 year old gets it

It being a storm day today, my sons and I were running out of things to do by the end of the night. We had even pulled out the new cookbook from Christmas titled “Deceptively Delicious” and had pita pizzas. Right in front of the boys I managed to steam cauliflower and red pepper but only managed to discreetly add the red pepper pulp after I chopped ‘er up. They were delicious with left-over salsa chicken, basil pesto, one with tomato sauce and grated cheese.

So we decided to build my son Caden a website. Read more »

Brilliant Photography of Tall Ships on Flickr

If you appreciate Tall Ships, then I want to share a link with you to collections of photos of these beautiful vessels from around the world.

I was introduced to them by a guy dated a few years ago. His passions lie in boat-building, sailing, sail training, education and owning a number of ships. It’s nice to see a number of pictures of one of his ships, Tall Ship Silva. This is an excellent example of viral marketing - your customers and strangers posting pictures of your product on a social media networking site.

I consider there not to be too many things more remarkable than these incredible vessels built by craft, skill, labour, tradition, toil and mystery. Built to sail and battle the seas and waters of the world.

More of my boat-building friends include: Eli Simmonds, my former room-mate who is attending a design school in Newfoundland. James McConnell who owned and ran the Georgetown Ship Yard before he sold it to Irving. Chef Stephen Hunter, is a passionate sailor and if I’m not mistaken, has had his hand in building and is the only one I haven’t sailed with. James and I went on the Harbour Hopper this summer.
